OVERVIEW
The Society for Medicines Research announce the 2019 SMR Award for Drug Discovery is awarded to the Genentech team responsible for OCREVUS® (ocrelizumab) a fully humanized anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody approved for the treatment of relapsing-remitting and primary-progressive multiple sclerosis. The award will be received by Dr Andrew Chan, Senior Vice President Research Biology at Genentech, who will deliver the SMR Award Lecture entitled “The Discovery and Development of Ocrevus.”

The symposium will also feature an international line up including speakers from AstraZeneca, Bicycle Therapeutics, GlaxoSmithKline, The Institute of Cancer Research, Spero Therapeutics and UCB, presenting on the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents which have recently progressed towards or into clinical trials. The programme includes a variety of mechanistic approaches and will cover therapeutic areas including oncology, anti-infectives and inflammation.
